Additional Information: Rosemoor Wood is an interesting mixture of mature and semi-mature conifers, and an area of mature Oak. Unusually, most of the conifers are growing on the area of land that is designated as an Ancient Woodland site, whereas the Oak does not have such a designation. The conifers growing at the western end of the woodland are mainly Spruce, interspersed with Ash, Rowan and Birch. Some areas have been thinned and the trees have now grown on to near maturity. Other areas of Spruce along the riverside have not been thinned so heavily, and are probably from a later planting. There is a small but impressive block of mature Douglas fir in the middle of the woodland, and these could be retained as landscape features with a little thinning. The eastern end of the woodland is mainly large mature and semi-mature Oak trees growing on the steep slope below the road. These are a very attractive landscape feature and as the native woodland type, they make a valuable contribution to the ecology and wildlife habitat of the riverbank. Access from the council highway is good, through a large gateway and onto a woodland track that runs down the short western boundary. Off this track run other woodland tracks that provide access through the woodland and down to the river. The river is a very impressive feature that could be greatly improved by removing a few of the riverside conifers.
